I had great plans to attend the Women’s March on Washington D.C. this year, but, owing to a busy work schedule and the cost of attending, I woke up the morning of Jan. 21, 2017, in my home in Denton, Texas. I did, however, watch the rally live, and the speakers that took the stage during that event inspired me. They were firm in their beliefs and motivated to take action, but they were also optimistic; in fact, many speakers and sign-holders preached a message of love. As my own humble addition to the cause, I spent that afternoon creating the images below, so that those who shared the passion behind event but, like me, were unable to be there in person, could join the movement in spirit.
In this image series, I used simple shapes and warm, fiery colors, coupled with a modern, direct typeface to illustrate the quotes I found most inspiring.
